LEAD AS A COACH Workshop - January 26, 2012. Most leaders describe their role as one of a “coach”. While it is true that a lot of leaders approach their employees with an idea of coaching, many lack the real coaching skills and the understanding of principles of effective coaching. Many leaders confuse coaching with mentoring, teaching, advising and directing. Coaching, however, consists of its own paradigms and specific skills. When coaching is properly applied, a leader’s approach transforms radically.
The workshop is for you if …

…You want to be perceived as a leader with a coaching approach.
…You are frustrated with your employees or team members not following your suggestions.
…You want your performance review conversations be more productive.
…You are afraid you are not as an effective manager as you would like to be.
…You want to learn practical and effective tools of the coaching trade.
…You want to leverage your coaching skills in your personal relationships, too!

You will learn:
·      Responding to basic human needs as a coaching leader
·      What coaching is not
·      How you design a contract for a coaching relationship
·      The two dimensions of coaching
·      The mindset of a coach
·      The critical coaching skills for a leader

Kristiina will share her secrets of leadership coaching in this is a highly interactive workshop.
10.00 am – 2.00pm, includes a boxed lunch.
Register by end of the December 2011 at $450
Registering in January $499

The First Thursday of the Year Happy Hour!
January 5th 2012 5pm-7pm Big Agenda Happy Hour
Bellevue Grille at the Sheraton Hotel, Bellevue
Guest Speaker: author Carmela Ramaglia!

Come meet my friend, the weight-loss expert, author and founder of Happy CaloriesDon’t Count, Carmela Ramaglia who challenges the basic assumptions of the diet and exercise paradigm of weight loss. By revealing the fundamental flaw of this traditional model, Carmela illustrates how the idea of “diet and exercise” actually keeps most people from achieving their weight-loss goals.

Based on the knowledge, experience and insights she discovered in her own personal struggle, Carmela offers a revolutionary newparadigm that delivers the critical missing element between weight-loss efforts and successful, long-term results.

Carmela has a great blog and you can make her acquaintance at her website: http://www.happycaloriesdontcount.com/index.html

Lead as a Coach - Secrets of Coaching

Most leaders describe their role as one of a “coach”. While it is true that a lot of leaders approach their employees with an idea of coaching them as a sports coach who points out their weaknesses and directs them to correct action, many lack the real coaching skills and the understanding of principles of effective coaching. Many leaders confuse coaching with mentoring, teaching, advising and directing. Coaching, however, has its own paradigms and specific skills. When coaching is properly applied, a leader’s approach transforms radically.
If you don’t have time to take a coaching course but want to learn the tricks of the trade from an experienced executive coach and adopt a more coaching flavored leadership style this BizLeader Round Table is for you.

You will learn:

  • The difference between coaching and other guiding approaches
  • Why curiosity is the key
  • How to listen below the surface
  • How to put decision-making back where it belongs
  • Feedback: receiving, giving and soliciting
  • Accountability does not equal “license to judge”

Do you know the launch date of the Action for Happiness?
In honor of this global project, I've reserved Happy Hour Lounge at Sheraton Bellevue for some regular get-togethers under the topic of happiness.

The invitation is open - please join us if you think you would enjoy a casual chat about what brings joy to life. I will steal some 10-15 minutes of the "happy time" and present some food for thought about how we perceive happiness, how happiness plays into leadership and what makes us happy.

Although there is no cover charge or fee to attend (you can order anything you like from the happy hour menu) I’d like to get an idea how many are planning to attend, and therefore, would appreciate RSVPs by May 3rd. The Grille is not very busy, and we will share the space with other bar patrons at one end of the lounge. There is ample free parking.

I hope you join in the conversation and help me launch a new tradition - joyfully! :-)
